Franklin Pierce

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 14.75 x 18, July 24, 1856. President Pierce appoints James P. Waddell as “a Lieutenant in the Navy.” Signed at the conclusion by Pierce and countersigned by Secretary of the Navy James C. Dobbin. The crisp orange seal affixed at the bottom remains fully intact. Intersecting folds, some light dampstaining to the right side somewhat affecting the signature area, and a bit of irregular ink adhesion to signature, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
