Appealing group lot of items featuring Clement Mok’s famed ‘Wheels for the Mind’ design of a college student riding a bike with a Macintosh computer hitched on the back, Picasso-style imagery that became synonymous with Apple’s role in higher education throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. The lot includes:
- Rare original color 30 x 30 silkscreen poster featuring the ‘Wheels for the Mind’ emblem, with text to the bottom, “Apple University Consortium,” and the upper left bearing an Apple logo. This poster, which is affixed to a same-size foamcore mount, was displayed at the first AUC conference held in 1984. Included with the poster is an original ‘thank you’ card and invitation letter for the AUC, sent by Project Coordinator Kathy Schlein.
- Red-and-white ‘Wheels for the Mind’ raglan t-shirt, size medium, with student biker emblem on front above text and the back featuring a red Apple logo above gray text: “Apple Computer.”
- Six unused ‘Wheels for the Mind’ nametag stickers, 2.75 x 6, issued for “Macfest," and an unused ‘student biker’ plaque with raised design and text, “MacAdemia 1986.” In overall fine condition, with some edgewear and light spotting to the poster.
