Steve Jobs's hand-annotated original Apple Computer business card, 3.5 x 2, featuring the company's colorful rainbow logo, with a note to his father penned in black felt tip, "Hi, I'm back." The card's text reads: "Steven P. Jobs, Chairman of the Board, Apple Computer, Inc., 20525 Mariani Avenue, MS: 3K, Cupertino, California 95014, 408 973-2121 or 996-1010." In fine condition, with subtle toning. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
This was one of several business cards found along with Apple promotional posters kept in the back garage of the Los Altos family home. The card dates to the period when Jobs served as Apple's chairman, from February 1981 until his resignation in September 1985. Although Jobs returned to Apple in 1997, he didn’t reassume the role of chairman until August 24, 2011, the date of his resignation as CEO and some six weeks before his passing.
Though ostensibly announcing his return from a trip with this message, Steve Jobs's words echo his famous 2009 keynote where he announced his return to Apple from a liver transplant: 'I'm vertical. I'm back at Apple. Loving every day of it. I'm getting to work with our incredibly talented teams to come up with some great new products for you all in the future. So it's wonderful, and thank you.'
Provenance: from the personal collection of John Chovanec, stepbrother of Steve Jobs.
