Unique pairing of color satin-finish 10 x 8 photographs of a White House reception, showing the Reagans warmly greeting the seated James Brady, individually signed and inscribed in the lower border in black felt tip to Brady, "Dear Jim—As always—it was great to have you (Y&H) on hand. Warmest Regard, Ronald Reagan" and "To my dear Y&H—love, Nancy." "Y&H" was Nancy Reagan's affectionate nickname for Brady, meaning 'Young & Handsome.' Both are stamped on the reverse as official White House photographs. In overall fine condition, with a small emulsion stain to the Ronald photo.
James Brady was President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary when Reagan was shot during John Hinckley Jr.'s assassination attempt on March 30, 1981. Brady was struck in the head by a bullet and left permanently disabled as a result of his injuries. His suffering later helped inspire the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, a major U.S. gun-control law.
