Steve Jobs's personally-owned vintage circa 1977 Apple Computer Inc. poster, 16 x 20, produced shortly after the company was funded by Mike Markkula and presented by Steve Jobs to his father, Paul, who proudly displayed it in the living room of the Jobs family home in Los Altos. Created as the first advertisement for "Apple Computer, Inc."—the newly formed corporation that succeeded the Jobs-and-Woz 'Apple Computer Company' partnership—this simple image of a bright red apple preceded the development of Apple's iconic rainbow logo. The photograph would be leveraged in Apple's advertising for the Apple II, often carrying the tagline: 'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.' Displayed in the original red metal frame to an overall size of 16.25 x 20.25. In fine condition, with slight rippling to the poster and a few scratches to the frame. Accompanied by an image of Steve Jobs taken during a visit to his parents' house in the 1990s, this poster seen on the wall behind him.
This poster represents a tangible link to the origins of Apple’s identity and vision, capturing the moment before the company’s visual and cultural transformation into a global icon. Beyond its rarity, its familial provenance—from Jobs himself to his father—embodies the deeply personal nature of Apple’s early story, when the brand’s revolutionary ideals were still rooted in a family garage. As such, it serves not only as an early artifact of Apple’s marketing but also as a symbol of the passion and authenticity that defined Jobs’s approach to innovation.
Provenance: from the personal collection of John Chovanec, stepbrother of Steve Jobs.
