Description

Aircraft designer and manufacturer (1878-1930) who pioneered such far-reaching innovations as the aileron, the pontoon airplane, the flying boat, dual pilot controls, and the retractable landing gear. Commemorative ‘air mail’ cover with a stamped cachet honoring the 20th anniversary of Curtiss’ flight from Albany to New York City on May 29, 1910, the first long-distance flight between two major cities in the U.S., signed prominently in bold black ink, "Glenn H. Curtiss.” Includes six glossy photographs of or related to Curtiss, the majority being vintage exemplars, and an unissued stock certificate for 100 shares in the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Corporation. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
