Handwritten letter to "Patti," in full: "I'd love to oblige and send a photo but mine are not ready yet. They should be set around September or so. Thanks for the note—it's been fun to hear from people all over the country." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, postmarked at Manchester, New Hampshire, on August 9, 1985.
On July 19, 1985, Vice President George H. W. Bush announced that McAuliffe had been selected for the 'Teacher in Space Project.' She would tragically perish in the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986.
