French pilot and WWI fighter ace (1892-1927) who mysteriously disappeared on an attempt to make the first non-stop transatlantic flight from Paris to New York. Uncommon vintage matte-finish 7.5 x 9.5 photo of Charles Nungesser in his decorated military uniform, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Mr. Fred L. Pantlino, Sincerely, Ch. Nungesser.” In fine condition, with tastefully trimmed edges, and a bit of clear residue along the bottom edge.
From the personal collection of a lifelong collector, teacher, and traveler with a passion for world history. His collecting years ranged from the 1970s to the present day, meaning that several of the premier pieces have not been on the market in decades.
