Unflown gold-plated Apollo 1 Flightline medallion, approximately 1.25˝ in diameter, with a raised design of the mission insignia on the face, and raised text of the astronauts' surnames and mission on the reverse. Condition is mint state, with light rubbing to the edge. Accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from Mark Grissom, the son of Gus Grissom, who writes: “I certify that this ‘Apollo 1 Medallion’ was personally owned by Gus Grissom. This Apollo 1 Medallion has remained in the Grissom Estate until sold.” A historic medallion, one of a limited number prepared for flight on Apollo 1, deriving from the personal collection of the mission’s tragic command pilot.
