Apollo Command Module (Block II) Central Timing Equipment Module, measuring 5˝ x 8˝ x 6˝, manufactured by the General Time Corporation, with inspection stamps and labels on the front, reading: "Purge Valve," "Osc Adj," "J2," "J1," and "C28-1A102," with toned adhesive below from a removed identification plate.
The Central Timing Equipment module served as a timing reference source for the Apollo Command Module telemetry and communications systems as well as onboard clocks. It provided precision square wave timing pulses of several frequencies to correlate all time-sensitive functions within the Apollo Command Module. It also generated and stored real-time day, hour, minute, and second of mission elapse and time in binary-coded decimal format for transmission to Mission Control in Houston via the Manned Space Flight Network.
