Apollo Command Module (Block II) Data Modulator built by Motorola, measuring approximately 8.5″ x 4.75″ x 4″, with a tag on the end reading: "Item Name: Data Modulator, NR/SD Cont. No: ME478-0087-0002, Mfrs Serno: 94990 000 A206, Mfrs Part No: 01-P10233B001…Date of Mfr: July 70." The data modulator unit features two ports inset into one side, marked "J1" and "J2." These modules were used exclusively on the science-oriented 'J' missions—Apollo 15 through Apollo 17—as part of the Scientific Data System.
