Scarce official NASA invitation for a luncheon honoring “the Apollo 11 Crew and The people who made the Mission possible," which was held at the Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas, on August 12, 1969, measures 9 x 6.25 open, signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint, "Neil Armstrong," in blue felt tip, "Buzz Aldrin," and in black ballpoint, "M. Collins." In very fine condition.
After three weeks in confinement — in the Apollo spacecraft, on a USS Hornet trailer, and then in the Lunar Receiving Laboratory — the crew of Apollo 11 was finally allowed to leave quarantine on August 10, 1969. A day after attending this luncheon at the Rice Hotel, the crew was honored with a massive ticker-tape parade in New York City before embarking on their famous 45-day 'Giant Leap' tour. Only the second fully signed Apollo 11 'Rice Hotel' invitation that we have ever offered.
