Outstanding original painting by NASA suit technician-turned-artist Ron Woods entitled "A Tribute To Apollo Technicians," accomplished in oil on 23 x 20 gessoed board, depicting a pair of "CDR Lunar Boots P/NA/LB-106062-03/04" and a "Payload Bay Flag P/N10108-10023-05." Applied at the upper left is a 10 x 6.5 swatch of Space Shuttle Columbia payload bay liner Beta cloth, stenciled in pencil with the names of the Apollo suit technicians. The liner section is attested flown by Ken Havekotte as indicated on a provided official KSC-NASA work task report #2954096 for flight removal and usage on Space Shuttle Columbia (OV-102) on Mission STS-109 in March 2002. Stamped in the lower left by Ron Woods and dated 2025. Framed to an overall size of 24.5 x 21.5. In fine condition.
During the Apollo program, Ron Woods worked for ILC as a suit technician performing suit maintenance, interface testing with the Command Module, Lunar Module, and Lunar Rover vehicles, and insertion of astronauts in Command and Lunar modules for training. He suited crew members for Apollo 8, 11, and 15, all Skylab missions, and Apollo-Soyuz. He also supported the first two Space Shuttle missions as a suit technician at KSC and three additional missions at primary and backup landing sites.
