Sought-after flown flag of the United States, 6 x 4, carried into space on the first manned mission of the Apollo program, signed and flight-certified in ink, "Carried with me on Apollo 7, Walt Cunningham." In fine condition, with a bit of feathering to the ink.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Walt Cunningham, in full: "This four by six inch American flag accompanied me on the 4,500,000 mile flight of Apollo 7, the first manned mission of the Apollo Program to land a man on the Moon, October 11-22, 1968. This flag has been solely in my possession since that time.
I flew the mission for space exploration, for my country, and for the personal accomplishment. The American flag was among the most meaningful items I carried with me onboard our spacecraft. It symbolized the ambition, effort, self-sacrifice, and pride we felt as we raced to the Moon. It is a reminder of the 'golden age of manned spaceflight,' when man first left our home planet to land on another body in the universe, the single most memorable accomplishment of the twentieth century. Apollo 7 is still the longest, most ambitious and most successful first manned test flight of any new flying machine."
