Description

Flown Apollo 12 lunar landing site map plate from the collection of CMP Richard Gordon

Flown 10.5 x 8 ‘Landing Site Landmark Map’ page carried on the Apollo 12 mission, derived from ‘Apollo 12 CSM Lunar Landmarks Maps’ book (Part No. SKB32100081-322), signed and flight-certified in blue felt tip, "Flown on Apollo XII, Richard Gordon, CMP." The map plate is headed "Landing Site 7, Oblique, 14 Novembe[r 1]969 Launch Date," and shows an oblique view of the Apollo 12 landing site in the southeastern Oceanus Procellarum (Ocean of Storms), with range circles and trajectory mark. In very good to fine condition, with some surface loss and emulsion irregularity toward the top edge.

Accompanied by two certificates of authenticity from Moonpans, one of which states that the flown ‘Landing Site Landmark Map’ originates from Richard Gordon’s personal collection, and the other attests to the map having been removed from the ‘CSM Lunar Landmarks Maps’ flown during Apollo 12. Also included is a copy of a page of the Apollo 12 ‘Apollo Stowage List, Mission AS-507, CM 108/LM-6,’ which lists the ‘CSM Lunar Landmark Map’ booklet (SKB32100081-322) as part of the mission-flown inventory, plus an unsigned official NASA lithograph of Gordon posing in his white space suit.

The Richard Jurek Collection.
