Exceptional pairing of a flown United States flag from Skylab 4 and a flown flag of Texas from STS-49, both about 5.5˝ x 4˝, displayed within an impressive and substantial 10.25˝ x 20˝ wood-and-metal presentation frame, engraved in the center: "Presented to Harriet G. Jenkins, In recognition of your outstanding leadership and dedication to equity in NASA's Federal Equal Opportunity Program. Your wise counsel contributed to the successful accomplishment of the Agency goals and mission. February 1974 - June 1992." Ms. Jenkins was NASA's first EEO officer, working from 1974 until 1992 in the role—the period represented by the flown flags in this presentation.
The American flag is captioned: "This United States Flag was flown aboard the Skylab 4 mission Nov. 16, 1973–Feb. 8, 1974." The Texas flag is captioned: "This State of Texas flag was flown aboard the maiden flight of the Orbiter Endeavour, Space Shuttle mission STS-49, which successfully captured, repaired, and deployed the INTELSAT spacecraft, May 7–16, 1992."
Includes a small archive consisting of a NASA issued photo album from her retirement reception, as well as a Lyndon B Johnson Space Center Equal Opportunity Award Certificate presented to her, signed by Center Director Aaron Cohen. In overall fine condition, with a somewhat musty odor.
