Description

Flown patch carried aboard the sixth test flight of the McDonnell Douglas DC-X, or Delta Clipper Experimental Vehicle, which launched from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico on May 16, 1995. The 5.5˝ x 3.5˝ patch is affixed to a certificate of authenticity bearing the facsimile signatures of Charles Conrad and Dale Shell, reading: "Presented by: The United States Air Force/Phillips Laboratories and McDonnell Douglas Aerospace in appreciation for your support of the Delta Clipper Experimental Flights at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. This patch was flown aboard the sixth flight of the Delta Clipper Experimental (CD-X) on 16 May 1995, 0940-0942, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico." Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12 x 14.75. In fine condition.

The Delta Clipper was a vertical take off and landing test vehicle that represents the precursor research into what would over the years eventually become SpaceX and Blue Origin's vertical take-off and landing technology.
