Group of four flown Series 1995 two-dollar bills carried to the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-2 by cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, with serial numbers F05071041B, F07347783B, F07347785B, and F07347786B. All are signed in black ink by Malenchenko, and bear on-board ISS and Expedition 7 ink stamps. One has been encapsulated and graded by PMG as "Choice Uncirculated 64," with the label noting the provenance: "Ex. Yuri Malenchenko / Flown Aboard ISS Expedition 7, 2003 / Jefferson Space Museum Collection." Each is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Malenchenko, stating that these "did, indeed, fly with me on Soyuz TMA-2 to the International Space Station during Expedition Seven for over 184 days and 2,911 orbits of the Earth. We left Earth on April 25, 2003 from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, and returned to Earth on October 27, 2003."
Also includes two photos of Malenchenko signing the currency, and a letter of authenticity from noted USSR-Airspace dealer Alex Panchenko, attesting to the flight and history of the bills and that they originate directly from Yuri's collection: "It was a symbolic gesture on Yuri's part to carry these bank notes on board as the mission was the first time the ISS crew included one Russian cosmonaut, and one American cosmonaut. Yuri personally hand-canceled each bill with the ISS stamps, including stamp of his Expedition-7, while in orbit."
