Flown Series 2003 two-dollar bill, serial number I15894613A, carried on the SpaceShipOne's two X-Prize flights in 2004, signed on the portrait side in black felt tip by the sub-orbital spacecraft's test pilots, adding the dates of their flights: "29 Sept. '04, Mike Melvill" and "04 Oct. 04, Brian Binnie." Encapsulated and graded by PMG as "Choice Uncirculated 64," with the label noting the provenance: "Ex. Melvill & Binnie / Flown Twice Aboard SpaceShipOne Ansari-X Prize Flights, 2004 / Jefferson Space Museum Collection."
Accompanied by a letter of provenance signed by Melvill and Binnie on flown stationery from the October 4th flight, numbered 9/10, in full: "This uncirculated Two Dollar Bill (Serial # 115894613 A) was flown aboard the SpaceShipOne on its two X-Prize flights into space. The first flight (X-1) occurred on September 29, 2004 with Astronaut Mike Melvill. The second and last flight of SpaceShipOne was flown on October 4, 2004 with Astronaut Brian Binnie on the X-2 (X-PRIZE winning) flight." Also includes an image of both pilots posing with the bill, which was one of just ten carried on both flights. SpaceShipOne now hangs in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
