Description

Official bracket-bound ‘Project Apollo’ NASA manual entitled “Spacecraft Test and Checkout Procedures / Spacecraft Operations for Space Vehicle Launch Countdown/Countdown Demonstration,” signed on the front cover in black felt tip, “Buzz Aldrin, Apollo XI.” The manual, 653 pages, 8.5 x 11, dated October 25, 1967, lists effectivity for “SC 017,” with the document identification block reading: “FO-K-0033/0007A-SC017, E.O. No. M528026.”

Dated just weeks before the launch of Apollo 4 (AS-501), the first uncrewed test of the Saturn V, this manual is configured for use with Spacecraft 017 (CSM-017), the Block I Command/Service Module flown on that mission. The “SC-017” effectivity reflects the spacecraft configuration to which these procedures apply, aligning the document with pre-launch operations for Apollo 4.

The manual outlines detailed spacecraft test, checkout, and countdown demonstration procedures used during pad operations and integrated vehicle testing, forming part of the standardized operational framework developed during the early Apollo program and subsequently adapted for later missions. In fine condition, with rust stains and wear from brackets.
